Viktoria Rebensburg gave herself a really nice Christmas present when she came fourth in the giant slalom in Courchevel, France. A few days before in the downhill in Val d’Isére she was 14th.
For the giant slalom last Sunday Viktoria put a new ski set-up to the test – a decision that was to pay off. Even in the first run it soon became clear that the girl from Kreuth in Bavaria meant business, in her feisty second run she managed to top her excellent performance from the first run and came fourth – her best result of the season so far.
First place went to Eva-Maria Brem (Austria), ahead of Nina Løseth (Norway) and Lara Gut, who both clocked the same time.
“I am really satisfied with the fourth place. It is a really good step in the right direction and has put me in optimistic mood for the next few races,” as Viktoria put it. She is going to use the break over the Christmas holidays to fine tune her potential. The giant slalom in Lienz on 28.12.2015 will be the last event of the year for Viktoria. “I am really looking forward to the race, once again I am going to attack and try to confirm my form.”
It was on the Saturday before in Val d’Isére that the girl from Kreuth in Bavaria took part in the downhill. She got off to a confident start and in the upper stretches of the slope was actually among the top three. The conditions on the day were excellent and that meant no room for mistakes. As a result Viktoria finished fourteenth.
Lara Gut (Switzerland came first), 2nd and 3rd place went to Fabienne Suter (Switzerland) and Larisa Yurkiw (Canada).
